Our office prides itself in using a non-judgmental approach to therapy, utilizing evidence-based treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. Your first session with us will include an assessment with one of our licensed treatment providers to establish which form of treatment will be best for you. We treat both substance use disorders as well as process addictions which include (though not limited to) gambling, video games, food, sex, and pornography addictions. Our Substance Use Disorder services provide treatment options to students who are struggling with addiction. Substance Use Disorders Treatment & Recovery * Mental health counseling services are available to students at Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). UCF Health Center staff can assist students with scheduling an appointment with community providers to obtain this testing, if necessary. Some conditions, including ADD/ADHD, require that comprehensive psychoeducational/neuropsychological testing be completed within the previous 3 years prior to the initiation of stimulant medication per UCF Student Health Services policy. Please have your previous psychiatric records sent to the UCF Health Center prior to your initial appointment. This referral may be obtained from a previous medical or mental health provider, from one of our primary care providers, or from the UCF Counseling Center A referral is required prior to scheduling with a Health Center psychiatrist. Referral to community psychiatrists can be facilitated on an as-needed basis. Depending on the severity and complexity of the diagnosis, psychiatrists may provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment. Limited psychiatric care is available at the UCF Health Center and provided by Board Certified Psychiatrists and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners. If a student obtains this referral, they may schedule a one-on-one consultation with the Clinical Dietitian, who can help them with: weight management, eating disorders and body dysmorphia, hypertension and pre-hypertension, anemia, diabetes, and digestive disorders. Nutrition ServicesĬlinical Dietitian services are available to students who have obtained a referral from their healthcare provider. Neurofeedback can also be used non-clinically to enhance academic and athletic performance by improving focus, stress reduction, emotional regulation, and self-awareness, specifically in high stress situations such as exams or competition. Neurofeedback can train individuals to gain self-regulation over problematic brainwave activity to promote improved mental health, cognitive functioning, and well-being. Several mental health issues can be influenced by problematic brainwave activity such as anxiety, stress, depression, inattentiveness, hyperactivity, lack of motivation, and impulsivity. Neurofeedback training is a non-pharmacological therapeutic intervention that uses computer technology to measure and retrain brainwave activity in real-time. Services include: in-office evaluation of acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries (including back pain), on-site radiology services, non-operative treatment, expedited orthopedic referrals if needed, concussion management, management of athletes with acute illness, medical management of athletes with chronic illnesses, joint and other MS injections as appropriate, and injury prevention evaluation. Our focus is to prevent and treat sports or exercise-related injuries. There are two fulltime Sports Medicine physicians available at UCF Student Health Services to all UCF students and athletes.
